THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce has started preparations for this year’s annual secretaries’ convention scheduled for the end of this month in Vumba.

ZNCC Manicaland and Chiredzi regional manageress Ms Perpetual Guwila said they were expecting more than 30 secretaries and personal assistants to attend this year’s convention.

“We have begun preparations for this year’s convention which is likely to be held in Vumba. Preparations are on course as more than 20 secretaries from several companies in Mutare have shown interest.

“Despite liquidity challenges bedevilling most local companies, secretaries and personal assistants remain vital cogs in organisations. These conventions aim to ensure that they remain professional and dedicated to their duties in dealing with the public,” she said.

She urged secretaries who are willing to attend this year’s event to visit the organisation’s Manicaland branch offices at Agribank building.

She said they would soon reveal the participation fees which will cater for accommodation, transport, food, refreshments, conference documentation and entertainment.

“Unlike in previous years, where we would go with secretaries only, we will also incorporate frontline staff like personal assistants and junior secretaries,” she added.

Topics expected to be covered include networking challenges for women, enhancing assertiveness skills in workplaces, deportment, improving communication skills and customer care.

Last year’s event, which was held in Juliasdale, ran under the theme “Bringing Economic Transformation as Administrators.”

The convention was spiced up with recreational activities such as horse riding and mountain climbing as well as interactive workshops.
