PREPARATIONS for this year’s Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Manicaland business awards slated for Golden Peacock Villa Hotel early next month have commenced with the adjudication process already in progress.

The awards are meant to honour outstanding companies and businesspersons who excelled in their business endeavours for the past year. They will be held on June 9 under the theme: “Consolidating the new normal economy through policy reform.”

This year’s awards will see more participants being honoured compared to previous editions since they are more than five new categories that have been introduced.

Unveiling the categories to Post Business, ZNCC regional manageress for Manicaland and Chiredzi, Ms Perpetual Guwila, said the rural businessperson of the year category which was scrapped last year is back.

“This will be a bigger and better event since we included several categories such as Corporate Social Responsibility in Cancer Awareness as well as in HIV and Aids. Following public outcry especially from areas outside Mutare, we decided to bring back the rural businessperson of the year award.

“Those who failed to get nomination forms should visit the chamber’s Mutare offices situated at Office 16, Agribank Complex. The forms should be returned to our offices for adjudication. The name of the guest of honour will be announced in due course.

“People should register in their numbers and be part of the prestigious ceremony where we will be honouring exceptional business personalities and organisations. We have already started visiting companies in Mutare, Chipinge, Nyanga, Checheche, Chiredzi and Rusape,” said Ms Guwila.

Other categories are best tertiary institution of the year, best public enterprise of the year, investor of the year, best transporter and logistics of the year, best Information and Communication Technology company, best bank supporting Small and Macro and Medium Enterprises, SMME of the year, young entrepreneur of the year, businessman of the year, businesswoman of the year, lifetime achievement award, enterprise development support.

The exporter of the year category will be sub-divided into sub-categories which are agriculture, mining, manufacturing and tourism.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe will provide the results after an extensive analysis.
