PREPARATIONS for the 2018 Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Manicaland business awards slated for end of May at the Golden Peacock Villa Hotel have commenced with the adjudication process already in progress.

The awards are meant to honour outstanding companies and businesspersons, who excelled in their business endeavours for the past year. They will be held on May 18 under the theme: “Consolidating the new normal economy through policy reform.”

ZNCC regional manageress for Manicaland and Chiredzi, Ms Perpetual Guwila told Post Business that ZNCC would honour outstanding business persons and organisations in 13 categories.

The categories include the businessman/woman of the year, ICT, public enterprise award, young entrepreneur award, tertiary institution award, financial institution supporting micro, small and medium enterprises award, enterprise development, business leadership, rural businessman of the year, lifetime achievement, company of the year and sustainable development goals champion award.

“A shortlist of five nominees per category will be deduced by the adjudication committee based on aggregate nomination forms submitted.

All five nominees will be expected to submit their profiles (company and person) for finalisation prior to arriving at the top three. The five nominations are vetted and tallied by the independent adjudication committee void of ZNCC influence that consists of an array of captains of industry in varying fields and disciplines.

“This committee presides over the nominations and comes up with a list of the top three winners using transparent and internationally acceptable adjudication criteria. The top three winners are notified of their eligibility to a ZNCC award and are invited to attend the awards ceremony where the winner, first and second runner ups will be announced to the business community,” she said.

Last year saw Destiny of Africa Network founder Obadiah Musindo and Milestone Group of Schools founding director Molly Mupfunya winning the                      businessman and businesswoman of the year awards respectively.

Nominations forms are being collected at the chamber’s Mutare offices situated at Office 16, Agribank Complex.
