PREPARATIONS for Zimpapers annual Cancer Power Walk scheduled for November 3 and aimed at raising awareness of the threat posed by cancer have reached an advanced stage.
In Mutare, the initiative will see participants from all walks of life and across all ages walking for five kilometres from Manicaland Motoring Club. Apart from Mutare, the power walk will take place in Harare and Bulawayo. One of the event organisers Mr Peter Madondo said all proceeds will be channeled toward cancer patients.
Zimpapers has vigorously raised awareness around cancer and other non-communicable diseases that continue to pose serious challenges in the country.
“Preliminary body checks on sugar diabetes, BP, HIV counseling and testing, among other health screens will be conducted by a team of doctors, among them Dr Tendai Zuze, who volunteered to be part of this noble initiative. This is our second edition and we are happy with the preparations. We would like to urge the people of Mutare to come in huge numbers and be part of this noble campaign,” he said.
Among other activities, fitness trainer Knowledge Nyamhoka will conduct Zumba.
