ZANU-PF Manicaland Youth League has stepped up preparations for this year’s 21st Movement Celebrations to be held at Matopos in Matabeleland South next month and is expected to raise $25 000.

The provincial youth executive held a meeting at a Mutare hotel last Sunday where they came up with modalities on how to raise more than $25 000 to cater for the transport and welfare of about 10 000 youths from Manicaland who are expected to travel to Matopos.

Zanu-PF provincial youth secretary for administration, Cde Victor Saunyama, said they had come up with a schedule for all stakeholders meetings to be held in all the party’s eight districts in Manicaland as part of their fundraising initiative.

A fundraising committee led by Cde Taurai Chirapamberi is already in place and will spearhead all activities starting on Monday.

The committee will first meet stakeholders from Mutare Urban and Zimunya-Marange at Mutare District Administrator’s Office on Monday at 10am.

“On Tuesday, the committee will visit Mutasa and Nyanga respectively. The Mutasa meeting is at 10am, while the Nyanga meeting is at 2pm. From there two teams will meet stakeholders in Makoni and Buhera on Wednesday at 10am. We will round up our programme with two meetings in Chimanimani and Chipinge on Thursday at 10am and 2pm respectively,” said Cde Saunyama.

Cde Saunyama said the 21st Movement celebrations were of great importance to all youths because the nation would be celebrating the birthday of Zimbabwe and Africa’s iconic leader, President Mugabe.

“To us the youths of Zimbabwe, President Mugabe is our second Messiah. He was sent by God to lead us Zimbabweans to the Promised Land and anyone who stands up against him will dismally fail. President Mugabe will be turning 93 on February 21, but if you look at his energy and zeal to work for the betterment of Zimbabweans, then you will realise that he was anointed to lead this country.

“President Mugabe is a blessing to Zimbabwe and Africa at large. Very few leaders the world-over have the same leadership qualities like our iconic President and our hero. If we had our way, the 21st Movement should be celebrated like any other national holiday like Christmas because President Mugabe has done a lot to Zimbabwe and Africa at large. We don’t mind even if the celebrations are held the whole week because as youths we have benefitted immensely from President Mugabe’s wise and undisputed leadership qualities. As youths we benefitted from the land reform exercise, empowerment programmes and now it is the stands programme. Very few leaders think about youths as the future leaders, but here in Zimbabwe our God-given leader has a special place for youths in his heart,” said Cde Saunyama.

He said a fundraising dinner would be held at a venue and date to be announced.

“We want to accord many youths from across the province a chance to travel to Matopos and have the time of their lives with their hero,” he said.
