TANGANDA Primary School recently hosted a youth tournament which will culminate into district finals.

The ongoing youth tournament is a brainchild of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and is meant to tap talent from every corner of the country. ‘’It is Government policy through the responsible ministry to harness talent from every corner and Chipinge is happy to be part of the history making process,’’ Martin Sithole, the District Sports Officer, said.

A local farmer, Skumbuzo Thondlana, donated five balls for use during the play-offs.  He urged youths to take sports seriously for it can change their lives. ‘’Your lives can be changed for the better. Gems are unearthed in such tournaments.  Charles Manyuchi, the pugilist, was discovered when he competed in the Youths Games and look where he is,’’ he said.

Tournament coordinator, Godfrey Makuyana, praised the youths in the constituency for their diligence, humility and patriotism.

‘’I urge you to continue to be masters of your destiny. Sports entertains but more importantly, it makes you shy away from anti-social activities,’’ he said.

The finals will be held on July 27.
