HELLO there folks, I hope you are well. This week I am talking to all about an issue I struggle with. . .wrongly shaved eyebrows. Yes, you have seen them too I know it. And it is so hard to tell someone that they look terrible because they probably think they are good.
Fuller, thicker brows are in style especially this summer. So those of you who have thick eyebrows, this summer is for you. The rest of us who shaved our petite hairs off have to make a plan. And the plan is what we call eyebrow filling and shaping. Right now is where the issue begins. You can (and should) spend much less time with the tweezers or razors and more time with a lighter coloured eyebrow pencil.
So to get these perfectly done eyebrows your best bet is to get them done professionally. But if you can’t afford the $1 minimum it costs, then I would say start with the right tweezers if you are not experienced with razor or with wax. Look for a sharp, slanted style and not the pointy versions. The sharp slanted one will grab tiny strays quickly and won’t pinch your skin along with the hairs.
When is the best time to tweeze? Well after you have washed you face. Warm water opens the follicles and softens hairs, helping them slip out more easily. Plucking is painful, so beware, but open pores makes it easier and less painful. Some people say put ice on the area before plucking. Yes, it may help, but personally the cold ice on my skin makes me believe that the pain is worse. Women another key thing to remember is not to do things like waxing and plucking right before your period (when skin is most sensitive), shocked right? But it’s true. I also found out that if you have teething gel for babies around, you can dab a little on the area and it will sooth it.
I have seen some women go outside in the sun and using a magnifying glass, they pluck their eyebrows, but by the time they are finished, there is no hairs left. I tell you why this happens, because the magnifying glass can make it look like there’s more hair to remove than there really is. Use a regular mirror in a well-lit room – if you can’t see stray hairs under these conditions, neither can anyone else. After every few tweezes, take a couple of steps back to see the bigger picture.
Do not pluck the whole eyebrow. You simply need to pluck the arch and the strays. Your brows should begin directly above your tear duct, peak in line with the outer side of your iris, and end at a point that falls 45 degrees from the outer corner of your eye.” Be sure not to arch your brows too high or they’ll look unnatural. Now you can easily do this with an eyebrow pencil, if in fact your eyebrows do not arch as they should.
Next once you have determined how your brows should curve, outline your ideal arch using a soft, creamy eye brow pencil. Never use black please, unless your skin shade is extremely dark brown. I have seen far too many women draw their eyebrows into place with a black eyebrow pencil and it looks like they are crazy. Don’t do people. A dark or medium brown eye brow pencil is what you need to use for darker skins. Once you have drawn the lines remove only the hairs that fall above or below your self-made stencil.
If like many of us, you have sensitive skin, use something with cortisone on the red area, before putting the remainder of make-up on. The last thing you want is to have pimples come up the next day.
You then need to have an eyebrow brush to style the brow and neaten the arches. So style your arches with a brow brush or a clear, brow-gel wand, coaxing hairs upward at the start of your arch and brushing the rest toward the end of your eye. If this confuses you, just look at a picture or someone else whose brows are done perfectly.
If you are experienced you can fill in the sparse spots with eye shadow or with a pencil. If you hair colour is Brunette, you should opt for a shade or two lighter than your hair colour. Lighter hair colour people can go for golden shades, while darker head people can go for darker shiny bronzes, golds etc.
Now if you have over plucked your eye brows sorry. The best thing to do is to refrain from tweezing for at least three weeks so you can see the natural growth pattern and shape. If your brows need a little extra encouragement, brush on a growth serum every night which you may be able to get from a makeup section of a beauty department store, or a shop that sells eye products
While pencils and powders are great for enhancing your arches day to day, consider brow tinting for a more permanent solution. It saves time in the morning, since you don’t have to worry about adding definition with the right pencil or powder daily. This is especially great for those women whose eyebrows do not grow any more. But don’t try this at home, get a specialist to do it for you.
Well, there you have it then folks, advice on getting your eyebrows perfect. Please, please, do not use black this season ladies on your eyebrows, it is not funny. It also looks crazy if you wear eye shadows that are really outstanding like blue, orange etc., with black on the brows. Eish, ladies too much!
