A MUTARE woman dragged her former club members to court praying for a peace order against them for continuously pestering her over money.

Mary Marega told the court that she had left Chirambadota Society Club in June last year, but its members were continuously pestering her saying she owed them money.

The club was formed by their local headman, Lawrence Masavi and his wife, Lorati Masavi.

She said the club members were in the habit of visiting her homestead shouting at her.

Mutare magistrate, Miss Nyasha Kuture, presided over the matter.

“Your Worship, I left the society last year in June and I had paid every cent I owed them. The receipts are there as proof,” said Marega.

“However, they have been on my back accusing me of still owing them $1 001. I have not known any peace as they come to my house shouting at me. I am now leading a miserable life,” she further said.

Marega added that the club was forcing her to acknowledge the debt which could be reduced to $830.

She insisted that she had owed the club $550 which she had since cleared.

Masavi said it was Marega who had asked the club members to come and collect the money at her homestead.

“If this is what is happening, you should bring the issue before the courts. You should stop visiting her. Just let professionals handle the matter,” ruled Miss Kuture.

Miss Kuture further told Masavi who is the club’s supervisor to advise his fellow members to stop bothering Marega.

The peace order was granted.
