A CHIKANGA woman was heavily assaulted by her youthful boyfriend and left for dead at a popular night club following a burst up over the affair.
The woman was stripped naked in the fracas which drew a huge crowd.
Fungisai Pazvakavambwa (28) was later saved by her friend, Shalom Chishakwe, who attended to her before escorting her to make a police report.
She sustained a swollen face and a painful chest after she was assaulted with bricks by her ex-lover, Gladman Dadi at Legends Night Club on Christmas Eve.
Mr Poterai Gwezhira presided over the matter as Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
Dadi (23) pleaded guilty to assault charges and told the court that he acted out of anger as he still loved Pazvakavambwa.
He said he was angered by the fact that she was now rejecting him.
“Your Worship, I was so angry that she no longer wanted anything to do with me when I still wanted her,” he said.
He surprised the court when he denied a community service sentence after having been asked by Mr Gwezhira on whether he knew what community service was and if he would want it as a sentence instead of a custodial or fine option.
“Community service is repaying your offense while working at a public place without getting any salary and it is a big no to me Your Worship. I do not want any community service. It would be best if you fine me because I can afford it and not unpaid work,” he begged.
However, he was fined $150 and was not given time to pay. He begged the court for more time, but Mr Gwezhira did not entertain his pleas.
“Do not confuse the court, you begged for a fine and now you want out. Pay that money before you go home because you stated clearly that you do not want community service and can afford to pay the fine without fail,” said Mr Gwezhira
He had been sentenced to three months imprisonment which were wholly suspended on condition that he pays the fine.
Allegations were that Dadi and Pazvakavambwa were at Legends Night Club when Dadi snatched her cap and ran out of the club.
She followed him outside where he tripped her to the ground and picked a brick which he used to hit her on the chest as she lay on the ground.
