A WOMAN who has failed to co-exist with her mother and sister-in-law recently approached the Mutare Civil Courts praying for a protection order against the incessant insults and assaults she was being subjected to by her husband’s relatives.

Appearing before Mutare magistrate, Miss Nyasha Kuture, Kudakwashe Mupezeni described her mother-in-law, Abigail Wenzira, and sister-in-law, Charity Nyamupezeni, as violent women.

She said: “My mother-in-law is a problem and I don’t want her to visit me because of that violent disposition. Together with her daughter, they cause trouble and I have experienced hell-on-earth for the past 10 years that I have been married to my husband.

“They insult me. I was a single mother when I married my husband and the duo feel that he is too good for me since I was a single mother. I have no peace Your Worship, they come to my house and act like I am not married to their son, accusing me of distancing their son from them. I don’t know why they are so violent. They have caused me untold misery and I just want them to come in peace when they visit.

“They should just accept that I am their daughter-in-law now and it is not going to change any time soon. It has been 10 years already but they just won’t accept me. We are always quarrelling and it is not good for me.”

Asked on why she was always picking fights with her daughter-in-law, Wenzira denied the accusations.

“Maybe it is her Nyamupenza who she always quarrels with. I do not know of these violent actions that my daughter-in-law is alleging. I am actually surprised,” she said.

Miss Kuture granted the protection order to Mupezeni against her mother-in-law and her sister-in-law. The pair was ordered to stop insulting, harassing, threatening and assaulting their daughter-in-law failure of which will earn them a jail term. The order will be valid for five years.
