A MUTASA man shocked Acting Chief Mutasa’s court last Saturday when he confessed to ritual murder after he had been tasked to testify on behalf of his brother.

Jacob Muranganwa confessed to murdering one Saddock, a teenager from Chipupuri Village some time last year.

The shocking testimony came after Muranganwa’s brother, John Muranganwa, had reported a defamation matter against his brothers, James and Abraham, whom he accused of defaming him by labelling him a murderer.

“James and Abraham Muranganwa are calling me a murderer, accusing me of killing one Saddock,” said John who was later asked to produce witnesses to which he called Jacob.

Tables turned as Jacob who was supposed to testify in favour of John changed sides and told the court that he together with John had murdered the deceased.

He said the ritual murder syndicate involved four businesspeople and eight other villagers who used Saddock’s body parts in their businesses.

Narrating the sad ordeal, Jacob told the court that his brother and himself lured the unsuspecting schoolboy on his way from school and promised to pay school fees for him.

He said the deceased had been sent home from school over unpaid fees.

“We lured him and promised to pay his fees if he worked at our grinding mill. That same day as he slept, we butchered him using a hammer.

“We then took the body parts that we wanted and faked suicide at his home. I tied a rope around his neck and hung him just outside their homestead,” said Jacob.

He said they took Saddock’s blood, brain and private parts.

“To date, I have been having sleepless nights because the spirit of the deceased is now haunting me. This is why I am confessing today. I need help,” he begged the traditional court.

Acting Chief Mutasa, who referred the matter to the police, said he would deal with the defamation matter after the police and criminal court dealt with the murder case.
