A RUSAPE woman who had enough of her husband’s cheating last Saturday night took matters into her hands and allegedly torched his car that was parked at a friend’s house while he was having quality time with his girlfriend.

The incident involved a Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services officer, Edmore Mafuya.

Mafuya’s wife who The Manica Post failed to establish her name and contact details by the time of going to print is alleged to have ‘set surveillance mechanisms’ on his troublesome husband whom she had been having marital disputes with for years.

Sources close to Mafuya said his wife finally knew where her husband was regularly parking his car before pouncing on it.

This not the first time for Mafuya and his wife to take their marital dispute into the public arena as last year in November, Mafuya and his girlfriend identified as Linda were caught while merrymaking at Vengere Shopping Centre and a fierce fight erupted.

Mafuya knocked down a 70-year-old grandmother as he sped off with his girlfriend.

When contacted for comment, Mafuya absolved his wife, saying she was in Mutare when the car was burnt.

He claimed that he was not with Linda, but was in a bar in Vengere.

Asked why he had not yet filed a police report, Mafuya said he does not have a suspect and comically said he suspected that this reporter that burnt his car.

“It is all lies. My wife is in Mutare. She was not around when the car was burnt. It is not true that it is my wife who did that. She was actually surprised to hear about the allegations. People are just suspecting that she is behind the fire, but she is not the one.

“I do not know why people are suspecting her. Whom do you want me to report to the police as the suspect? Ok, I am suspecting it is The Manica Post and you who burnt my car.

“I am at work, I cannot say much please. I was at a bar in Vengere. I was not with Linda. I parked the vehicle in Mabvazuwa and used a friend’s car to go to Vengere. It is all lies,” said Mafuya.

Had it not been swift reaction from a neighbour, disaster could have struck as the fire almost caught the roof of the main house.

The neighbour who refused to be identified said he was awakened by the car’s alarm and was shocked to see that the car was on fire.

“I heard the alarm going on and on and I went to investigate, only to find the car engulfed in huge flames.

“There were no people at the house and I had to put out the fire alone using water.

“The flames were so huge and the main house roof almost caught fire,” said the neighbour.
