He further claimed that his wife threatened to kill him. Mildred Mudzukira (24) appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Innocent Bepura and pleaded guilty to the charges of domestic violence.
She pleaded guilty to assaulting her husband, Ignatius Mubvumbi. Mudzukira was sentenced to six months imprisonment, which were wholly suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecuting, Mr Fletcher Karombe, said on July 18 at around 6pm, Mubvumbi arrived home and found Mudzukira preparing food. He decided to go out to while-up time with colleagues.
“Upon his return, about 30 minutes later, Mubvumbi found the door locked from inside. He asked for a spare key from his landlord and managed to open the door. “As he entered the room, Mudzukira picked up a shoe and assaulted Mubvumbi several times on the face. He sustained an injury on the eye.
“When he asked her why she was violent, Mudzukira told him that she wanted to kill him or leave him unconscious,” said Mr Karombe.
Mubvumbi managed to escape and went to make a police report, leading to his wife’s arrest.
