A MUTARE vendor last week approached Mutare Civil Court demanding $350 for the maintenance of the two children they sired with her estranged husband.Taiti Hamutidi told the court that Jonathan Matsito is employed as a teacher and had dumped her for another woman on August 4.

She was claiming $350 for the upkeep of two children aged seven and three years.

Ms Anne Ndiraya presided over the matter. Hamutidi told the court that Matsito dumped her because she was illiterate for another woman who is also teaching at the same school where he teaches.

“He left me for that woman because I am not educated and I am not employed. He left me alone with the children after giving my parents a divorce token on August 4, so I need money to take care of the children. I am only a vendor realising $50 per month and it is not enough for the children’s needs Your Worship. I am well convinced that he can manage the $350 because he took a loan and opened a tuck-shop with his new wife at Number 264, New Chisamba in Sakubva.

“They are getting a minimum of $300 each month,” said Hamutidi.

However, Matsito produced his pay slip before the court, which showed that he was getting a net monthly salary of $130 or less because of the loans he had obtained from CABS, FBC Bank and another micro-finance institution.

Matsito disputed owning a tuck shop with his new wife.

Ms Ndiraya ordered Hamutidi to come back with enough evidence to show that Matsito owns another tuck shop in Sakubva.

She would deliver her ruling on August 29.
