Vagrant attacks travellers

A VAGRANT, who attacked a traveller in broad daylight, robbed him of his electrical gadgets and left him lying in a pool of blood, has been arraigned before the courts.

Anesu Sengasenga (23) pleaded guilty to robbery when he appeared before Mutare magistrate Ms Perserverance Makala.

He is being charged together with two other accomplices who vanished after committing the crime.

Sengasenga of no fixed abode together with his fugitive accomplices attacked Steven Mwauraisa and went away with his gadgets worth $1 000.

The suspect however denied the second robbery charge in which he is being accused of attacking Lovemore Makiwa at the same spot and robbing him of his cell-phone and cash amounting to $150.

He is facing two counts of robbery as defined in Section 126 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.

Sengasenga admitted to approaching Mwauraisa who was travelling from Chikanga to Sakubva together with his two accomplices and attacked him using stones and sticks.

They left him lying in a pool of blood and vanished with his EOC Canon 1200D camera and a Nokia cell phone.

The complainant who was later helped by passers-by made a police report. Sengasenga was later arrested on March 12 and led detectives to recover the camera from the person he had sold the gadget to. On the other matter,  the complainant Makiwa was coming from Maonde Bar in Sakubva when he was approached by Sengasenga who then greeted him since he knew him.
