UNREPENTANT convict, Linda Masarira (33), who was once convicted for obstructing traffic during a demonstration in July 2016 is back in court again.
In 2016 Masarira was sentenced to 385 hours of community service or 11 months imprisonment.
Masarira of House Number NF 73 NRZ Quarters and is employed as a guard at National Railways of Zimbabwe was represented by Mr Passmore Nyakureba of Maunga, Maanda and Associates and Mr Blessing Nyamaropa of Commercial Law and Human Rights Chambers when she appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Perseverance Makala last Thursday facing charges of contravening Section116 (1)(3) of the Liquor Act.

“On May 7, 2015 at around 6:30pm, Masarira had a misunderstanding with Paymore Kamangira at Tara Bottle-store over demonstrations by National Railways of Zimbabwe employees, accusing him of being a traitor who should be killed for not participating in the demonstrations.
“Masarira was later joined by Tapiwa Marufu, Freddy Kapfidze and Frank Mbi in verbally attacking Kamangira. Masarira and her colleagues later dispersed after Kamangira took out his cellphone intending to call the police.
“Kamangira later went to Njanji Bottle-store where he met Masarira again. Masarira verbally assaulted Kamangira,” he said.
The court heard that her two friends tried to restrain her from the disorderly conduct to no avail.
Kamangira managed to record her and a copy of the recorded disc was availed to court as an exhibit. She was remanded out of custody on her cognisance to April 21.
