HELLO there fashionistas, I hope you are all doing as well. This month I will strive to answer some of the questions you have been asking me over the past weeks. I will try and answer as many as I can. One: Hi, Ms Fashion Diva, I have been dieting for soooooo long, but there seems to be no change. I have always been fat and heavy. Am I wasting my time or am I just doing something wrong? From Trisha.

Hello Trisha, first, you need to know that losing weight is a scientific and natural fact. However, dieting alone will not make you lose enough weight. You need to exercise too and you need to know the right foods to eat when you are dieting.

The fact that you are heavy means you probably have big bones or a big structure (I can’t tell without seeing you), but if so, then you will probably not lose weight below a certain weight regardless of your height because then you will be bone. Another thing is, are you dieting for the right reasons? Your mind set has to be right when you are dieting because dieting is a mindset. Dropping weight is not an overnight miracle, you have to be patient. Yes, swallowing pills etc., can help you lose weight quickly, but if your mindset has not changed, when the pills end you will go back to your negative ways and pick the weight back on. Another thing you need to do is love yourself as you are first, then study yourself, your habits, your thought patterns, watch what foods make you pick up weight quicker than others etc. Write it all down, then start to work on each one, until you correct them all. You will be amazed at how many people have lost weight without actually dieting, but by simply changing their lifestyle and eating habits. Lastly, if all fails, you may have a thyroid issue, or some underlying medical problem, or find a diet that matches your blood type, because that can play another role in how much weight you lose.

Two: Hi Anastasia, please tell me about the detox diet, will it help me with my losing weight plan? Pam.

Hello Pam, yes detoxing whether used as a diet or as a cleansing routine is excellent. As a diet it is perfect because it rids your body of excess fats etc., while keeping you healthy. It is great because it is short term (one day to seven days). The weight loss is usually felt or seen within hours of starting the detox. It does not leave you hungry because many of them are based on cleaning the stomach. Of course if you want to lose weight quickly with the detox, you need to eat as much fruit and veggies and drink lots of water as you can. I detox once a week, not to lose weight, but to clean my system out of all the junk and takeaways I would have eaten. It is perfect for my skin and health, yet it also removes the weight. So yes, I would recommend everyone to go on a detox rather than an actual diet, it works wonders. Of course the larger you are, the longer it will take to lose weight, but at least you won’t be hungry and you will see the results. Be aware that some detox may work adversely to some medical problems, so make sure you get understanding of the foods you are taking for the detox e.g., if you have a problem with too much acid in your body….having an orange or tomato type smoothie will increase your acidity and make you ill. If you have ulcers, a parika and apple smoothie will make it worse and so forth.

Three: Sister Anastasia, I lost a lot of weight over the year and I was so proud of myself. Now everyone is asking me whether I am sick! I love my weight, I feel healthy and light, but it seems that those around me are seeing something I am failing to see. I even look great in my clothes. I went from a Size 40 to a Size 10. Please help me, even my boyfriend is not keen to hang around me as often because he says I am too skinny. I am Portia.

Hello Portia, shame girl, after all that hard work, no one seems to appreciate it now. It happens though. I do not have a picture of you Portia, so it is hard for me to see what your friends and family are currently seeing. Size 10 (34) is a big drop from Size 40. I therefore have no doubt you look different, you probably now have more bone structure and facial definition than before. Here is my thinking dear (without seeing you). Two people with the same height might not necessarily look good at the same weight. Your bone structures and density are different. Your facial features and neck length is different, your hair length is different and moreover your body shape is different.   That is all I have time for today folks, until next week, God bless!
