INCESSANT insults, assaults and death threats from her co-wife left a Mutare woman from a polygamous marriage with no option, but to approach the courts seeking protection.

Leah Chinofukutwa appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Nyasha Kuture, seeking protection against Mable Murwira.

Murwira was in default.

Chinofukutwa is the second wife in the polygamous marriage.

She told the court that she had not enjoyed peace over the past four years because of Murwira’s threats. Murwira is the first wife.

“She is more of a bully Your Worship and she even threatened to kill me. She calls me a lady of loose morals and all sorts of names. I now seek the court’s intervention. She stays in her own house and I stay in my own, but I don’t know why she harasses me. She comes to my house several times and attacks me using stones whenever we meet.

“As if that is not enough, she abuses my children in my absence or at school. I am the second wife and I respect her so much, but now I feel that my life is in danger. She is capable of doing anything. I don’t want her to follow me to the school where I supply certain goods and embarrass me in front of everyone,” said Chinofukutwa.

She added that Murwira also advised their in-laws never to entertain her.

Miss Kuture granted the order in favour of Chinofukutwa.
