HERE’S a glimpse into what goes on behind closed doors
Much like 10 Downing Street, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave North West is perhaps one of the most famous addresses in the world.
The iconic 55000-square foot building has become home to the Trump family after the Oath of Office was taken.
Similarly to number 10, what goes on within the walls of The White House is, for those not in the know, shrouded in secrecy.
Since The White House became the residence of the president with John Adams in 1800, nuggets of insider knowledge and secrets have emerged, and they’re as fascinating as they often are peculiar.
There’s a code word for when POTUS wants to sleep with FLOTUS
With a full schedule and 24/7 security detail, there are very few moments of true solitude for the President and First Lady.
So as and when Donald feels like some quality time alone with his wife, according to former aide, Rear Admiral Stephen Rochon, the Secret Service has a special code.
The President is apparently code named ‘Renegade’, the First Lady is ‘Renaissance’ and said ‘quality time’ is termed as ‘discussing the Bosnian problem’, reports The Sun.
So while the mental imagery might make you feel nauseous, the dialogue around love-making would go:
“Renegade can’t be disturbed right now. He and Renaissance are discussing the Bosnian problem.”
There’s not much time for the First Family to move in.
Think about how stressful moving is even when you live in a relatively small flat or house.
Now imagine trying to move in to the White House — and we somehow don’t think the Trumps have packed lightly.
But regardless of this, the actual move must only take 12 hours.
Private movers begin at noon and have a 12 hour window to unpack, arrange furniture and personal items, clean, and tidy up before Midnight.
There’s a secret shopping centre beneath The White House
Underneath the famous building there’s the Situation Room, which is where the President and his advisors can meet during crises.
But that’s not all there is — there there is a ‘mini mall’ alongside the Situation Room.
While it doesn’t cater for Melania’s expensive taste in clothes, it does have a florist, carpenter’s and even a dentist, in case Donald needs to get a cheeky de-scale on his lunch break.
The White House has a lot to thank FDR for
Franklin Delano Roosevelt served as the 32nd President of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945.
FDR was wheelchair bound after being stricken with a debilitating bout of polio.
After he moved in, FDR had had the whole building adapted and it became one of the first wheelchair-friendly government buildings in Washington, DC.
It was also FDR who renamed it The White House. Prior to Roosevelt’s presidency it was known as the Executive Mansion.
And a myth debunked
There’s a story that Lyndon Baines Johnson, often referred to as LBJ who served from 1963 to 1969 was a fan of a special power shower.
Rumour has it Richard Nixon had two nozzles dedicated to two sensitive areas of the anatomy (one was named ‘Jumbo’) removed at the start of his presidency.—Mirror Online
