AFRICAN roots musician, Bryn Taurai Mteki, who disappeared from the musical radar more than a decade ago, has commenced performing live shows across the country to popularise his long-forgotten brand as well as his forthcoming comeback album titled Ndakabva kure.

The renowned sculptor-cum-businessman, who is back in the country after spending 16 years in America and Germany, recently officially launched Jam sessions at his entertainment joint, Club Saratoga “The Hauz of Sekurutau” in Highfields in Harare.

He commences his Manicaland tour tonight (Friday) with a show at Club Mandisa before travelling to Dzonzayi Night Club tomorrow. He will perform alongside talented sungura ace, Obvious Mutani and Sungano Express in both shows.

Mteki is holding his shows under the theme: “Back from America: Celebrating the return of Bryn Taurai Mteki aka Sekurutau”.

“We are celebrating his return to Zimbabwe with a massive countrywide tour. We promise to put up scintillating performances as we meet our fans,” said Mteki’s management in a statement.

Tomorrow, Club Mandisa will for the first time host the fast-rising all female Harare-based band, Sipiti which has taken the musical scene by storm.

Sipiti is a five-piece all female band which weaned itself from the Music Crossroads Zimbabwe. All the members are talented instrumentalists and vocalists.

It was founded in May 2016 and recently shocked many when they stunned fans with a sublime performance at the recently-held Harare International Women’s day gig.

Sipiti is not only a band but a business entity which specialises in self-sustenance projects such as sewing, poetry, beauty therapy and acting. There are expected to win hearts of many at the potentially-explosive gig which will see them performing in the eastern border city for the first time.

Members of the ambitious group are vocalist and keyboard player, Nonhlanhla Muhoni, vocalist and percussionist, Pamela Dzvinamurungu, vocalist and drummer, Lorraine Gambiza, bass guitarist and vocalist, Miriam Muchemwa and keyboardist and percussionist, Fungai Chinogaramombe.

Progress Chipfumo, Runn Family, Assegai Crew, Brian Samaita and Murondatsimba Express, Bev and The Sexy Angels are lined up to perform at the same joint this and next month.
