INIMITABLE bassist and lyricist, Alick Macheso and his outfit, Orchestra Mberikwazvo has revealed that he will on Friday night spice up their act at The Platinum, formerly Pick and Save, by introducing new songs from the forthcoming album as well as new dances.

Macheso’s show which was slated for the same venue in February could not take place after the proprietor Isau Mupfumi’s mother passed on exactly the day he was supposed to meet his fans from the eastern border city.

“Macheso could not see it fit to perform at the venue on the day I lost my mother so he decided not to perform. He joined us in mourning. We would like to thank everyone who stood with us during the difficult time.

We would however like to urge people to come in numbers and celebrate the holidays in style,” said show organiser Mupfumi.

Macheso’s camp revealed that they were geared for the show saying the departure of influential band members Donald Gogo, Tafirenyika “Fire” Nyamunda and Forward Antonio would not affect their performances. The trio were fired over alleged indiscipline.

Noel Nyazanda and Devine Muzenda are expected to accord each other a chance on the lead guitar which Gogo strum.

“The band has not been affected by the departure of the three. We have enough guitarists who can equally do the job. We are ready for the show.

Fans should brace up for new songs and dances. We will present some new songs from our forthcoming album. Our dancers also have something in store,” said Alick speaking through his manager, Lucky.

Macheso on his previous performances has been belting out yesteryear oldies from his rich discography such as Mundikumbuke, Shedia, Zvakanaka Zvakadaro, Sarah, Madhuwe, Tafadzwa as well songs from his last album, Tsoka Dzerwendo, popularly among them Gungwa, Kurarama Inyasha and Mude-mude.

The show starts at 8pm.
