MORRIS Mtisi, we passionately call him MM in educational circles, has over the years put education issues at the fore. He has offered valuable learning and teaching ideas to both novices and seasoned professionals. Not a stranger to powerful, honest, frank, candid talk and writing, Morris has an admirable courage and instinct to express opinion on any educational topic. He has no hesitation to rub fundis the other way if he feels it is good for educational openness and democracy. His assertiveness is good for intellectual gymnastics and academic business necessary for careful and correct teaching and learning.

On Diamond FM Radio, his Head-to-Head with MM programme in which he engages a range of education gurus and students, sometimes parents and other personalities with an opinion or comment to make about education, is always a thrilling programme of listenership.

Mtisi’s coverage, be it on primary, secondary or tertiary education has enabled a number of us to look at education issues carefully and with an open mind.

He is a sharp and intelligent critic of education policy and his assertive nature makes it all more interesting.

The Manica Post brand is on the up though obviously we would want more space and coverage on education matters. From an initial seemingly paparazzi or gossip outlook, the paper has visibly turned into a family paper catering for all-round tastes in personal and national development. Is a Television Station on the cards?

It may be of interest to other readers and radio listeners that Morris Mtisi’s ideas and comprehension of the revised curriculum have been and continue to be robustly enriching. He can sometimes be highly complicated and philosophical about issues of education but if you read him or listen to him carefully, his researches, experience and wisdom on teaching and learning best practices is educationally objective, sound and invigorating.

I do not want to miss my copy of The Manica Post for the education page every Friday. I do not want to miss Head-to-Head with MM on DiamondFM Radio every Thursday night between 8 and 9pm. THANK YOU MM. THANK YOU MANICA POST!
