A DANGAMVURA school going teenager who after seeing her semi-nude pictures in her boyfriend’s phone made a false report against him was ordered to do 210 hours of community service at a local school.

Tinotenda Mutami (18) was convicted on her own plea of guilty when she appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi on Tuesday.

Mutami was ordered to commit 210 hours of community service at Dangamvura Primary School.

She was ordered to work during weekends until she finishes her 210 hours as she has to go to school during the week.

She was being charged with violating Section 180 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23, which is deliberately supplying false information to a peace officer.

Representing the State, Mr Fletcher Karombe, said on July 31, Mutami reported that Steward Katsike whom she knew as a mere friend had raped her the previous day. Further investigations were made on August 1, after Mutami was medically examined by a doctor who produced a medical report that stated that she was sexually active and that it was inconclusive to determine the abuse.

“She was further interviewed after investigation revealed that she was in love with Katsike. Mutami is alleged to have admitted that she had supplied false information upon seeing her semi-nude photos that she had send to Katsike in his phone,” said Mr Karombe.

In her defence, Mutami insisted that they had both agreed that her pictures should be deleted as she was putting on a see-through night dress only.

She further told the court that she had been angered by Katsike’s failure to delete the photos.

A docket of rape had been opened leading to Katsike’s arrest and detention.
