A TEACHER was left blinded for 24 hours with injuries so horrific that his daughter was scared to look at him after a vicious street attack.

Christian, 39, was brutally set upon in the street by a thug who broke every bone in his face and left him lying in a pool of blood in the attack in Hull on March 18.

His nose was crushed, his cheekbones and eye sockets smashed and his jaw shoved back into his face, report the Hull Daily Mail.

The savage attack left Christian unable to see with surgeons having to pull his face forward, put his jaw back in place and rebuild his nose in a series of complex operations.

Heartbreakingly, Christian said his injuries were so horrific that his five-year-old daughter was terrified to look at him

He said: “I could have died.

“This could have been a murder inquiry and it’s particularly frightening to think that after enjoying an evening with friends my daughter could have been without a father for no reason at all.

She would never have understood it at all.”“She visited me in hospital the night before my surgery and she was scared at first because she had no comprehension of how a person could look like that. She obviously struggled seeing her dad in that condition.”

The secondary school teacher, who is also a musician had been on a night out with mates when they decided to grab a takeaway at Khan Pizza around 10.30pm on Friday, March 17.

It was in the takeaway he first encountered the thug who would go on to viciously attack him.

“There were a group of young lads in the takeaway and then another guy joined them who I recognised at that time although I couldn’t remember exactly where I knew him from,” he said.

“I thought it could have possible been an ex-student. There was only a small moment of recognition between me and this person.”

After a night in the Polar Bear in Spring Bank Christian walked to Sainsbury’s on his own. Minutes after leaving he was set upon by his attacker. He said: “I turned around and the guy I had seen earlier was stood there in front of me.“He had a group of others with him which I assumed to be the lads he was with earlier.

I saw him and then he hit me a couple of times and knocked me unconscious and I was knocked to the ground.“As far as I know I was attacked on the ground by just one person which I assumed to be him.“I didn’t have time to get away or to run because otherwise I would have done so. I had no time to fend off any blows that hit me.” Christian was lying in a pool of blood with a good Samaritan from a taxi company stemming his blood flow with a jumper that was given to her.“I was losing a lot of blood,” he said.

“There was a woman cradling me and she put a jumper that had been given to her to my face and I bled into that.“I think I passed out again and an ambulance came but I have no recollection until the next day when I woke up in a trauma ward.“It was horrific what he managed to do to me in such a short space of time.”Detective Sergeant Justin Marrow of Humberside Police has appealed for the man who supplied the jumper to come forward.

He said: “We would really like to speak to this man and urge him to contact police as he may be able to help our investigation.“This was a violent assault which has left a man requiring significant medical treatment and a lengthy period of recovery.”Humberside Police are investigating and Christian is appealing for the owner of the jumper to come forward.

Christian said: “He is not under any suspicion – I know who attacked me. He just needs to help police and I personally want to thank him too.

“I don’t think I would have been alive if he hadn’t have intervened.”—Mirror Online
