YOUTHFUL gaffer, Taku Shariwa, has severed ties with Mutare City Rovers and unconfirmed reports are linking him with a move to Bulawayo outfit, Chicken Inn.
The former Hippo Valley coach confirmed that he is no longer part of the Mutare City Rovers family.
“I am no longer with Mutare City Rovers. We agreed that I save them from relegation, but alas it was never meant to be.
On the field of play I survived because of the points we amassed, but lost on the table. I thank the patron, the Mayor for his unwavering support as well as being frank and candid with me.
“I also appreciate the support I got from the community. I felt loved and I feel sorry for the heartbreak they endured at last.
I promise them I will come to finish off the business when the setting is conducive in the near future.
“The treasurer did a sterling job by being professional and I feel sorry when daggers were drawn out for him by those who wanted to enrich themselves at the expense of the team.
“I also thank my critics for I worked hard to win their hearts and at the end they appreciated what I did for the club. Finally, the Mutare City Council who sponsored the team in these harsh economic conditions.
They have provided employment and entertainment to the province. I wish Gusha Bhora success and quick return to the Premiership,” said Shariwa in an interview from his Chitungwiza base this week. He, however, neither confirmed nor denied that he will be joining Chicken Inn.
“I cannot say anything at the moment about my future. It is still work in progress and will only announce when the right time comes,” he said.
Shariwa who went Away Without Official Leave to attend a coaching course in Bulawayo when the club was about to play its final two matches of the season joined Mutare City Rovers after three rounds of league matches last season when the then head coach Kenny ‘Bokande’ Kachara seemed to have found the going tough.
Unfortunately for Shariwa, he inherited a squad that had already been assembled by his predecessor who later became his assistant.
Although he tried to bring in some new players during the July transfer window, nothing much changed as the teams continued donating points like confetti at a wedding.
Although an inept administration at Mutare City Rovers which badly exposed itself by fielding a suspended player in Zvishavane against FC Platinum did not help matters for City Rovers, Shariwa had convinced neutrals with his tactics as he had managed to improve the club’s style of play.
