Senior Reporter —
TABLE tennis fanatics in Mutare will have a chance to revive the game and establish a vibrant league when stakeholders converge at a meeting pencilled for Tuesday.

The meeting will be held at NM Consultancy offices, Anglican Building in the city centre.

While Mantas Tennis Academy has spearheaded the vibrancy of tennis in Mutare, making it a national powerhouse in the game of lawn tennis, the same cannot be said of table tennis which is generally dormant.

In an interview, interim chairman of the Manicaland Table Tennis Association, Ntokozo Moyo, said they had invited a number of schools, prospective clubs, individuals and all other stakeholders to map the forward in the revival of the game of table tennis.

Moyo said there was a lot of talent in table tennis in Manicaland and countrywide, but it is going unnoticed owing to lack of proper administration and sponsorship for the game.

“We have made plans to meet at NM Consultancy offices, Anglican Building in Mutare so that we can come up with a provincial league. We want to revive the game and make sure that table tennis players are kept busy.

“We are aware that we have a lot of talent in table tennis in Manicaland and countrywide, but it is going unnoticed owing to lack of proper administration and sponsorship for the game.

“I hope we will get the numbers that we want from the schools, prospective clubs, individuals and all other stakeholders that we have invited for the meeting,” he said.

Meanwhile, four Mutare table tennis coaches successfully undertook an International Table Tennis Federation coaching clinic course conducted in the capital recently.

The four – William Machacha, Kuda Madoro, Vanessa Muchayi and Luckmore Ndagurwa – attended the course which was held at Prince Edward High school.
