PLEASURE seekers in Mutare, despite being a conservative society, have failed to resist the invasion of strip teasers in entertainment joints, with some parting away with their hard-earned cash to watch the sexy women’s raunchy dances.Night club owners in the eastern border city have been making good business by hiring the services of strippers to boost their business, while men of different ages have been flocking to different joints to watch women of different ages doing what they know best on the dance floor while partially-naked.
Uptown drinking spots popularised strip tease shows last year, with revellers being asked to fork out handsomely as entrance fees to witness the nude shows.
However, the trend has spread across the city, with clubs in high-density suburbs taking the lead in taking strippers to the ghetto.
It is now relatively cheaper to enter into a strip club, with patrons parting with a $1, while dancers have also taken their trade to a higher level.
Presently strippers do not only leave little to the revellers’ imagination, but give it all, stripping all the way to their birthday suits. These acts are done in the full glare of all with no show of remorse.
Quite a number of night clubs in the eastern border city have strip tease shows on their entertainment menus and hardly a month passes without witnessing such shows in the city.
In Chikanga high-density suburb, two clubs are leading the way.
The shows do not end there as the strippers dance in very sexually suggestive motions. At times they go further to engage in live sexual acts using their hands and vibrators.
It is now common practice by the strippers to invite male revellers to the stage and engage in sexually suggestive moves with them.
One of the local promoters, said revellers’ response has been overwhelming.
“We can’t afford to disappoint our male patrons by not bringing in strippers because most of them have become so addicted. We are trying to mix and match dance groups and strip tease shows as we strive to retain our patrons. Response has been overwhelming and they are getting used to such entertainment,” said one promoter.
A check shows that most clubs register highest beer sales during strip tease shows.
“We wish we could have strip tease shows on a weekly basis because patrons tend to spend a lot in booze. Fun lovers are frequenting our place because of the blonde women who entice them with their raunchy dances,” said one club owner who requested anonymity.
Night clubs and strippers should acquire a certificate from the Censorship Board which allows them to legally strip tease in public.
It orders them to abide with the terms and conditions.
Dancers Association of Zimbabwe president, Harpers Mapimhidze, said although strip tease shows have been received with great enthusiasm by male patrons, it was worrying that some female dancers were subjected to abuse by patrons and club owners.
“The growth of strip tease show industry is commendable and we are glad that most dancers are abiding by the terms and conditions of the certificate from the censorship board. Although it was not popular in Zimbabwe, the tremendous growth has made the country’s showbiz more exhilarating, thanks to pioneers Bev and Zoey.
“We are, however, worried that some club owners tend to abuse dancers by underpaying them and asking for sexual favours. We condemn such acts and we would like to urge both dancers and club owners to behave in a professional manner as we intend to develop and turn the dancing and strip tease industry into a formidable one,” said Mapimhidze who is also Bev’s manager.
