A 42-YEAR-OLD man from Chipinge recently sneaked into his step-daughter’s room and raped her three times on different occasions before threatening her with death if she divulged the ordeal to anyone.
The man (name withheld) vanished soon after committing the heinous act and is still at large.
Police confirmed the incident which happened in Chief Mutema’s area.
“We are appealing to members of the public with information leading to the arrest of the culprit to contact their nearest police station.
“We urge women particularly mothers not to leave their children in the custody of male people since every man is a potential rapist. We have been receiving similar cases concerning sexual abuse perpetrated by relatives. We will leave no stone unturned to arrest the offender,” said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa.
The girl’s mother (44) travelled and left her in the custody of his step-father on July 25.
He sneaked into the girl’s bedroom at around 6pm and raped her once.
He used the same modus operandi on July 26 and 27 before he threatened to kill her if she divulged the ordeal to her mother.
The girl told her mother what had happened when she returned on July 28,
In an unrelated incident, police arrested a Nyazura man who pounced on his 16-year-old step daughter and raped her once. The incident happened when the two had gone to look for mushroom in the mountains.
“He asked for sexual favours from his step-daughter, but the latter turned down the proposal. He raped her once, but we arrested him after a tip-off,” said Insp Kakohwa.
