A GROUP of talented singers from the Roman Catholic Church recently came together to release a three-track soulful album, “The Royal Message”.

It focuses on issues affecting people’s day-to-day lives, including the sprouting of fake prophets. The group — Royal Trumpet, comprises 10 members who are all based at Most Holy Catholic Cathedral Parish.

It was founded by Benjamin Chimoyo and Gideon Mapara is the group manager. The album carries three tracks, ‘‘Baba Ndauyawo’’, ‘‘Ngwarira Nyoka’’ and ‘‘Vhula’’.

The group was founded in April last year. Other members of the group are Deodata Chimoyo, Nomsa Chikohomero, Febbie Nyagope,Theresa Makwati,Tinashe Ndere,Thando Mrehwa, Prince Mrehwa and Juliet Sithole.

Touched by the evil deeds of fake prophets who are on the prowl, the group composed a touching song, ‘‘Ngwarira Nyoka’’ where they urge people to be wary of bogus prophets whom they describe as “agents of the devil”.

“We liken false prophets as deadly serpents who are out to deceive and destroy. It is very disturbing to note that false prophets are now being used as traps by the devil.

“We are now living in a deceptive world. Satan is at work looking for people to devour. ‘‘We should pray hard so that we do not fall in his trap. The devil uses a lot of tricks and some of them appear so attractive and irresistible,” said Chimoyo.

The song has received rave reviews on local radio station, Diamond FM. It is faring well on Diamond Daily Gospel top 20.

The song, Baba Ndauyawo, is a plea to God for forgiveness and mercy. “This song encourages listeners to always seek God’s guidance and protection in life’s encounters. It also encourages people to always ask for forgiveness in our iniquities. In often times we anger God knowingly and unknowingly so it is important to plead for his mercy,” he added.

The song, ‘‘Vhula’’, was presented in both Ndebele and Shona languages. It encourages people to pin their faith and hope on God and live their worries on Him.

“We would like to thank our church and listeners who supported us from when we started. We are planning to hold shows to market our new album.”
