REVERED gospel artiste, Blessing Shumba is on the verge of completing shooting a DVD project for the chartbuster album, “Calvary” released early last year.

The project will contain most songs from “Calvary” as well as other videos from his previous albums. He shot most of the videos in the scenic Eastern Highlands area as well as Mutare’s Central Business District.

Shumba’s wife, Pauline and all bandsmen such as multi-talented producer and keyboardist, Olin Anderson, Patrick Nyanzenza and bassist, Confidence Muchafuruka, feature on the DVD.

Songs expected to feature on the album are “Kuparidza Jesu”, “ZvaMwari”, “Mwari Munodeiko”, “Zvapera (Simba Nemuchinjikwa)”, “Matatenda”, “Chikomborero”, “Anoziva Chakanaka”, “Move Mountains (Nokutenda)”, “Eli Hosanna (Save us)” and “Rajesu Idzvene”.

Anderson who runs Kunashe Studios is responsible for the whole production process such as shooting and editing.

This is Shumba’s second DVD project after the debut, “Ishe Wazvose” released in 2010 which contained songs like “Vana Sesu”, “Handina Mhaka”, “Ndangariro” and “Kurwa Kwakanaka”.

In an interview, Shumba, who now calls himself The Psalmist, said he bowed down to pressure from his fans who were demanding new videos.

“I could not help it, but bow down to their pleas. It is because of my fans that I have reached this far, so I have to give them first priority. The shooting process is going on well and I am happy with the progress.

“We have so far shot videos for several songs from ‘Calvary’. Some of them were shot in Vumba. We will dish out the project to our legion of fans probably next month or early March,” said the “Kurwa Kwakanaka” hit-maker.

He revealed that he would also drop his sixth album before end of the year.

The talented musician rose to fame after releasing the soothing plug track, “Mufaro”, off the award-winning album “NdiMwari” in 2010. The track came second in the Radio Zimbabwe Coca-Cola Pimp Up and Ride Top 50.
