A COMMERCIAL sex worker who fought with her colleagues over a client at a local night club in Mutare was arrested for allegedly damaging property at the joint during the melee.

The incident which occurred last Saturday brought business to a standstill as the sex workers fought for the alleged moneyed client.

Charity Sakarombe (34) appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Perseverance Makala facing malicious damage to property charges after she damaged a glass door during the fight.

She pleaded guilty to the charges and was ordered to restitute the club $50 by May 30 or risk 30 days imprisonment.

The mother of two at first tried to evade the charge by misleading the court that she was acting in self defence after her fellow sex-workers had assaulted her.

“Your Worship, we were not fighting over a man. The truth is that I was defending myself. They teamed up against me and assaulted me.

“I then took a chair and threw it on them in a bid to defend myself. I missed my target,” she said. Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.
