LOCAL sungura musician, Brian Samaita, will give his fans something to cheer about this festive season when he unleashes a debut DVD project and a fifth album, Rinoonekwa Nemavanga.
The DVD album, “Samaita – My Journey” carries videos for selected songs contained on his three previous albums, ‘‘Tsono’’, ‘‘Murodzi Wepfungwa’’, ‘‘Nemiwo Munazvo’’ and ‘‘Kumaziva Ndadzoka’’ as well as the guitarist’s biography and musical journey.
The Murondatsimba front man revealed in an interview recently that he was overwhelmed by the response that some of the songs had received. He has been belting some of the songs during live shows.
“I spent the whole year working on these two projects and I am happy that they are now complete. My management, Kartel Promotions, family and band members collectively worked together to make sure that we come up with polished projects. The two projects are presents for my fans for the forthcoming festive season,” he said.
Some of the videos are being shot in scenic areas such as Vumba and Nyanga as well as in Mutare’s popular suburbs such as Sakubva, Chikanga and Dangamvura. Samaita who has vastly improved on his vocals and instrument arrangement compared to his debut project, ‘‘Nemiwo Munazvo’’, which was amateurish, believes the two projects will scale his musical career to unprecedented heights.
He said his new album carried themes such as love, power, betrayal, infidelity in marriages and deception. His live shows have also improved, thanks to well-choreographed acts by energetic bandsmen such as bassist and vocalist, Edison Machote and lead guitarist, Augustine “Oga” Malunga among others.
“Murondatsimba Express is a brand I always aim to improve on a daily basis. Our fans keep us going. We believe our new album will tackle issues that affect people,” he added.
