LOCAL sungura musician, Brian Samaita has bounced back with a new five-track album, “Kumaziva Ndadzoka”.

This time, the rising musician whose music is greatly influenced by the late sungura king, Tongai “Dhewa” Moyo partners gospel diva, Agatha Murudzwa on the song, “Jerusarema”.

Other songs on the album are “Ndinokutendai”, “Ndavakuenda”, “Usatuka Mvuu” and “Ndizvo Here?”

The album which hit the streets yesterday (Thursday) was recorded at Diamond Studios by veteran producer, Bothwell Nyamhondera.

The album contains various themes that affect people’s day-to-day lives such as love, betrayal, deceitfulness and pride.

The project opens with the song, “Ndinokutendai” where the husky-voiced Samaita thanks God for keeping him safe and allowing him to sail through life’s trials and tribulations.

He urges people to pin their faith on God and keep thanking Him even when all hope seems to be fading away.

The businessman-cum-musician brags about his domination in the local sungura industry on the song “Kumaziva Ndadzoka” where he dares “haters” to challenge him musically.

He shows his lyrical ingenuity and guitar-strumming prowess on the song, “Usatuka Mvuu”, where he lets the lead guitar “sing” during the better part of the song.

The song which is arguably his best on the album will remind many of Samaita’s late close buddy, Tongai who could exceptionally blend vocals and instruments.

Apparently, the Murondatsimba front-man seems to have struck the right chords and has vastly improved on his vocals and instrument arrangement compared to his debut project, “Nemiwo Munazvo” which was amateurish.

If marketed well, the project is set to be an early Christmas present for all music lovers, particularly sungura followers.

The classic touch of talented, yet underrated bassist, Eddie Machote who replaced Simba Muchita on the new album is felt on all songs.

Machote plays the heart-pumping heavy bass guitar with aplomb. Other bandsmen who feature on the album are Obvious Chadenga, Augustine Malunga and Alvin Marapira.

“It is a project that I strongly believe will touch the hearts of many. I partnered Murudzwa with the intention of wooing gospel lovers as well as console and encourage music lovers to find comfort in God in all circumstances.
We did our best. We will soon commence live shows to as far as Mozambique and South Africa to market the new project.
We learnt a lot from Nyamhondera and we can’t hide that his experience in the music industry helped us to come up with a polished project like this. We leave it up to our fans to judge,” he said.

His previous albums are “Nemiwo Munazvo”, “Murodzi Wepfungwa” and “Tsono”.
