Rural background holding me down tete babra

The ManicaPost

Dear Tete
I am a 20-year-old lady living in the rural areas. I was born in the rural areas, grew up here and may even die here. I have never left the village to go anywhere, but it is my desire to go to the city.

Many of my friends have left for the city and have come back looking better than me. Sometimes I think that God’s time will come, but most times I am simply depressed.  Is there something I should do so that I can also look like them? I feel like our worlds are growing further and further apart.

Tete Barbara  Responds:
Life is a journey that has its own dynamics. Sometimes the road is rough and uneasy, hold on! You are still young and full of hope for a better life. Do not be a slave of your environment. Use it as a catapult to push you forward. One day, you will find the opportunity your heart desires and the reason for your existence will become visible. Do you have relatives in town?

Are they living comfortably enough to take you on board? Have you ever asked them for assistance? If you do not have anyone willing to take you to town, hold on, God will make a way. What are your friends doing in the city? I would not be too quick to envy what I do not know . . . if I were you.

It is possible that they are doing risky and undesirable things to have the lifestyle you are witnessing. Work hard and make choices that will not destroy your character, beliefs, health or future. Do things that will attract the assistance you need like self development skills etc.

All the best!
