MUTARE City Rovers coach Kenny Kachara ,who took the team into the Premier League, will not be able to sit on the bench next season as he does not have the required qualifications to coach a team in the Premier Soccer League.

Kachara is a holder of CAF C licence while his deputy Itai “Madhinda” Mukumi has Level Four licence.

Last year ZIFA implemented strict measures for local football coaches that require all top flight coaches and their assistants to possess a CAF A licence.

This implies that any unqualified coach will not be allowed to sit on the bench.

Some of the PSL clubs were forced to make some last minute changes to their technical departments at the start of the season.

While Kachara is one of the least qualified coaches in the Eastern Region Division One, he has led Rovers well this season with Gusha Bhora pushing for a quick return to the elite league after being relegated last season.

Kachara said he will work to upgrade his qualifications. He is the same man who guided Gusha in the elite league in 2015.

He was then replaced by Taku Shariwa. Kachara will be replaced again with a qualified coach.

“I am a holder of CAF C licence. I will work towards attaining CAF B and A. We will do with what is there. I know that I might not be able to sit on the bench, we will wait and see next season since ZIFA has suspended courses this year,” he said.

ZIFA Eastern Region Secretary General, Wisdom Simba, said for a coach to move from one level to another it takes a year of practice.

“For a CAF C holder to attain CAF B, it takes a year of practice and these are set standards. Courses were organised throughout the country but some coaches chose not to attend. We will not pardon any club. Last season, Shabanie Mine and Harare City were in the same predicament and ended up hiring qualified coaches,” he added.
