TWO robbers are on the prowl in Dorowa area where they are robbing people of their belongings, especially cash.
Assistant Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean confirmed the case, saying the duo first attacked a woman and her son at around 6pm and later attacked a shop owner at Makarara Business Centre 30 minutes later. The complainant, Resnete Kanhukamwe (50), was in the company of her son, Tafadzwa (28), on their way home from Makarara Business Centre when they were attacked by the robbers.

“As the two made their way to Farm 309, Hwedza, where they live, they noticed that two men were following them, but they did not suspect anything sinister. However, when the men caught up with them, one of them immediately grabbed Resnete by the collar and started assaulting her, demanding money from her. The other man who had grabbed Tafadzwa produced a sharp object with which he stabbed him thrice on the back.

He then searched him and took away US$100 from Tafadzwa’s pockets, a Nokia X2 and two loaves of bread which the two had bought at the business centre, leaving them stranded by the roadside,” said Asst Insp Clean.

About 30 minutes after this incident, the robbers allegedly proceeded to Makarara Business Centre where they found Kudakwashe Kambarami about to close his shop.

The two went into the shop under the guise of wanting to buy a box of matches. When Kudakwashe went to collect the matches, one of the robbers followed him and grabbed him by the neck. He then forcibly snatched $86 from Kambarami as well as a Samsung cell phone, before disappearing into the darkness.

Asst Insp Clean urged people in Dorowa to be vigilant. He said police were working round the clock to bring the suspects to book.
