IN what could be one of the greatest gospel gigs ever to be held in Mutare, a galaxy of local and Harare-based gospel artistes led by Rev Toggy Chivaviro will tomorrow (Saturday) converge at Courtauld Theatre for Pastor Tinashe’s “Zvichanaka” album launch.

Chivaviro, famed for the hit song “Ebenezer”, will be supported by Hick Gwarimbo, Lionnah Siduli, Minister Billy Ngoreta, Trymore Bande and Sandra Chirenje. What makes the launch ceremony special is that Rev Chivaviro, Bande and Murigo are riding high with new hot albums. In an interview, one of the organisers and artiste, Murigo said preparations were at an advanced stage.

“Tickets are selling like hot cakes. We are overwhelmed by the support that we are getting from people who want to attend the event.

The inclusion of Rev Chivaviro has also torched excitement. All artistes will perform with live bands. We are happy with the preparations,” said Murigo, who is the House of Power Apostolic Ministries Church leader.

Rev Chivaviro recently launched his 14th album titled ‘‘Matishamisa Jireh’’ which carries soulful tracks such as ‘‘Handinyare’’ featuring Oliver Mtukudzi, ‘‘Jesu ndanga ndakurasai’’, ‘‘Jesus the captain’’, ‘‘Korona’’, ‘‘Mwanangu terera’’ and ‘‘It’s not over.’’

A potential thriller on the album titled ‘‘Matishamisa’’ features several vocally-talented artistes namely, Peter Mparutsa, Trymore Bande, Nicholas Chirunga, Patience Mandizha, Mother General and Loraine Stot.

Trymore Bande, whose voice reminds many of gospel great, Charles Charamba, is also expected to light up the event with songs such as ‘‘Uchandiramba Peter’’, ‘‘Wakakomborerwa’’, ‘‘Mune usavi here’’, ‘‘Muimba yaMwari’’. His 10-track album, “Praise and Testimony in Songs” released last year, has been by far his best ever project since venturing into music four years ago.
