TRADITIONAL home of arts, culture and entertainment Courtauld Theatre will tonight host more than 20 reggae dancehall wheel spinners led by popular Harare-based entertainers Fyah Lynx to celebrate MC Top Shatta’s 36th birthday.

Mutare’s fastest growing reggae dancehall group Swat Sound which comprises Ras Kumbu and DJ Annex will also be joined by guetto sound groups such as Fyah Child Sound, One Love Sound and Champion Sound. The event dubbed “Top Shatta Earthday Bashment Party” is set to draw hundreds of reggae dancehall lovers from across Mutare and beyond.

Top Shatta, whose real name is Simba Collins Mutamba has been one of Mutare’s most consistent and long serving reggae dancehall chanter despite moving to Harare. The bash will for the first time bring Mutare’s upcoming and established sound groups on one stage.

“This is an ideal opportunity for reggae dancehall fans and deejays to converge and celebrate life. Blending established sound groups like Fyah Lynx and upcoming groups such as One Love Sound and Champion Sound is a development that we believe will benefit all groups. I decided to host such a bash on local turf because this is where I nurtured my musical career from.

“The deejays will get enough time to showcase their prowess on the turntables. We are happy with the response we have received so far and we are looking forward for a blissful night,” said Mutamba.

The event starts at 6pm till the last man drops.
