AMBITIOUS Rusape based gospel musician Simbarashe Mapila has broken new ground by setting up the first ever recording studio in the town.
Simbarashe Mapila (23) has launched the Amazing Records, which has been well received by artistes from Rusape and surrounding areas.
Since opening its doors early this year, seven artistes having recorded their projects with new studio.
Musicians in Rusape have been travelling to Harare and Mutare to record their projects.
The studio will also play a critical role in unearthing raw talent in the town which was going to waste due to non-availability of proper recording facilities.
Mapila told The Weekender that difficulties he encountered in recording his two albums motivated him start his own studio to cushion upcoming artistes.
“This studio was opened early this year. I encountered a lot of challenges and hiccups when I recorded my first two albums and this motivated me to save the little I had to start this project. Artistes have fully embraced the studio as we have already recorded seven albums here form musicians based in Rusape and Harare.
“The main purpose of this studio is to give upcoming musicians a platform to showcase their talent. There are lot of talented musicians outside big cities but most of them are not exposed and that is what this studio will do. In big cities studios give too much attention to established artistes at the expense of upcoming ones and it is so discouraging. We record all genres and artistes are free to bring their own producers whom they are comfortable working with,” said Mapila.
