AN UNREMORSEFUL 41-year-old Nyazura man stunned court officials at the Rusape Magistrates’ Courts last week when he denied ever raping his 17-year-old daughter, saying he had already quenched his sexual appetite on another victim whom he pounced on moments prior to her daughter’s alleged rape incident.

In a bid to convince the court to buy his weird defence, Godrich Mugadzikwa – who resides at Nyazura Mission School – turned the court room into an auditorium, graphically explaining how he raped the unknown victim and not his daughter.

He said there was no way he could turn to his daughter for he had had enough from the unknown victim whom he said even soiled herself from the encounter.

However, regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza, blasted his defence, saying it was false and mere fabrication.

He slapped him with an 18-year jail term, setting aside two years on condition of good behaviour.

District Public Prosecutor Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira told the court that the suspect raped his daughter on July 1.

“The complainant is doing Form Three. Allegations are that on the said date at around 10am, the accused person sent his wife to Mutare from Nyazura. He then went to Harare with the complainant to buy her clothes,” he said.

They returned late from Harare and arrived home when everyone was fast asleep.

“The suspect asked the complainant to sleep with him in his bedroom, but his daughter refused. He dragged her into the bedroom and went on to fondle her buttocks and forcibly removed her pants. She ran to the kitchen, but the suspect was in hot pursuit. While in the kitchen he grabbed her from behind and raped her. She cried and he threatened her. Soon after the act she went to a neighbour and reported the incident,” said Mr Mutyasira.
