DANGAMVURA high density suburb will explode into life this weekend when a potentially exciting one man pool tournament gets underway at Giants Sport Bar tomorrow (Saturday).

The tournament starts at 12pm.

The two day pool competition, which is being organised by the vibrant Mutare Pool League, will see 16 teams with an average of 6 players per club participating.

The tournament will see players above 35 years of age battling out for supremacy in their own category dubbed Master’s Class while those below that age will compete in the Youth Class.

Ladies have their own category.

Mutare Pool League chairman Fungai Makoni confirmed that the tournament will go ahead as planned.

Makoni said $4 affiliation fees will be charged for the Master Class while $3 will be charged for the Youth Class as well as for the ladies category.

“We are expecting a full house at Dangamvura Complex Giants Sport Bar where we will be having a one man pool tournament. One man pool tournaments are generating a lot of excitement and competition therefore this one should be no exception.

“$4 affiliation fees will be charged for the Master Class while $3 will be charged for the Youth Class as well as for the ladies category. We are expecting to have 16 teams with an average of 6 players per club participating,” said Makoni.

With the ever increasing interest in the game of pool not only in the eastern border city but the country at large, the Mutare Pool League has been able to consistently host several exciting and highly competitive tournaments.

Talented players have also emerged in Mutare with some of them giving a good account of themselves in national competitions such as the Black Label Pool competition.
