A MASKED robber who broke into Mutare’s OK Supermarket on Monday night expecting to loot big from the cashiers’ office walked away with only $10 after alarm systems foiled his heist.Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the burglary.

He said the unknown criminal only managed to steal $10 which belonged to one of the supermarket’s employees.

“The robber broke into the shop by way of dismantling a burglar bar in the ladies’ toilet.

“He got inside and went to the cashier’s office where he took $10 which was left of the table.

“A replay of recordings by CCTVs revealed that the robber was masked,” he said.

However, detectives handling the case said the robber was disturbed by motion sensor alarm systems which went off as he did his errands inside the shop.

“His intention was to blow up a safe and loot the money.

“However, that was not to be for the alarm system went off forcing him to abort the mission,” said one of the detectives.

Insp Kakohwa said those with information that might help in apprehending the suspect must report to the nearest police station.
