A FARM & City Centre Nyazura branch manager who allegedly stole stock worth over $15 000 is up for theft.
Allen Jela (39), who is represented by Mr Taurai Khupe of Chigadza and Associates, is denying ever committing the offence.
Prosecuting, Mr Tafara Chawatama told the court that Jela stole 50 x 50kg fertiliser, pesticides and 63 x 50kg cement worth $15 597.
“On March 29 and 30, a stock count was done and the accused failed to account for stock worth $3 113,60.

“On April 2, an investigation was instituted to ascertain the variance of stock and a shortage of $12 484,04 more was realised which the accused failed to account for.

“A report was made to police whose investigations revealed that the accused had given 50 x 50kg compound D fertiliser and a Metamenhafos pesticide to Lazarus Musedka worth $2 231 and 63 x 50kg cement worth $661,51 to Dr Shiripinda.

“All the stock was not paid for and there was no record to show that he had sold the property on credit. Nothing was recovered,” said Mr Chawatama.

Ms Patience Madondo, who presided over the matter, postponed the case to July 11 when trial will resume.
