BOTSWANA-BASED popular producer and singer, Dr Tawanda, real name Tawanda Kasarira, will take his nine-year-old daughter, Makanaka to Benard Mizeki Shrine in Marondera this weekend where the latter will launch her debut album, “The Passover”.

In a rare development, especially at her tender age, Makanaka, who calls herself Nelcy B, provides vocals on all songs and she did it with eloquence and expertise.  The album comprises six tracks, ‘‘Aripo Here’’, ‘‘Ndaramba’’, ‘‘Give Me Power’’, ‘‘Ndakamuwana’’, ‘‘Genesis Chapter One’’ and ‘‘Nashe Wangu’’.

Dr Tawanda who is famed for producing albums for celebrated Botswana-based artistes such as Slizer, Charma Gal and Vee, produced the album at Mega Bass Studios.  He will perform alongside his daughter. He will also take the opportunity to officially launch the Anglican Hymns DVD which carries seven videos including the popular Unconquerable Live Gig.

Makanaka who is doing Grade Four at Eastridge Primary School in Hillside, Harare, is determined to scale to dizzy heights. “This will be our last performance before we leave for a concert in New York in America, so these gigs are important for us as this will be Nelcy’s maiden appearance presenting her own songs. She intends to urge young children of her age to stick to the word of God and uplift souls through music,” said Dr Tawanda who is currently in Zimbabwe to market the new projects.
