RUSAPE Town secretary, Mr Joshua Maligwa, is the new Town Clerk for Mutare following Tuesday’s special council resolution that rubber stamped recommendations by the Local Government Board to give him the top post.
Former City of Harare executive, Mr Cephas Vuta, becomes the Chamber Secretary.
Mayor, Councillor Tatenda Nhamarare, revealed on Wednesday that a special council meeting held on Tuesday deliberated on the recommendations sent by the Local Government Board last week and resolved to have Messrs Maligwa and Vuta as town clerk and chamber secretary respectively. They are expected to start work on April 3.
“We sat down and agreed to go by the recommendations of the Local Government Board. The new town clerk and the chamber secretary will start work on April 3. It is refreshing to have substantive people in such crucial positions and we believe that they will bring in new ideas to the local authority. We need to quickly improve on service delivery, debt collection as well as solving the nagging salary backlog that we have,” he said.
