ISSUES affecting marriages and relationships, deceptive nature of friends as well as evils associated with lust and love of money are some of the major themes highlighted in a blockbuster movie titled Hazvinei which hit the streets of Mutare early this month.

Although the movie is a captivating, well-scripted and beautifully directed, it has below par sound quality because of wind noise. The cast comprises Mutare’s budding actors and actresses who include, Mazvita Jeyacheya who stars as Hazvinei, Tanyaradzwa Magadzire (Shamiso), Patrick Garikai Muusha (Dhewa), Victor Musarurwa (Moto), Kenny Munemo (Samaita) and Fadzai Mujumi (Mai Tino) among others.

The story writer, Nafter Bruna Chimbarami, revealed in an interview that he was inspired by life’s day-to-day experiences and things people do to acquire riches and fame.

He also exposes the dangers of lust and greediness. “Hazvinei” which can be loosely translated as “It doesn’t matter”, carries themes that inspire teenagers as well as adults to work hard to acquire riches and fame while discouraging people to engage in get-rich-quick formulas such as rituals.

The movie was released in three parts.

“Most people tend not to appreciate what they have because of lust and greediness. The movie tackles on several issues that affect us.

“Hazvinei is respectful woman married to a rich, God-fearing and loving husband and children. She one day meets her childhood friend, Shamiso who is wallowing in poverty suffering emotional distress after she was dumped by her husband who lived in the United States of America.

“She also lost both parents. She has nowhere to stay.

“Hazvinei, with a loving heart, takes Shamiso in. The couple pampers Shamiso with everything she ever wished for such as cars, a house among other things. They live happily before the devil finds his way in Hazvinei’s marriage and family. Shamiso does the unthinkable and snatches Hazvinei’s husband through the works of juju.

“She is now a regular visitor at traditional healers. Dhewa overwhelmed by his love for Shamiso chases Hazvinei away from the matrimonial house. And the drama unfolds in an intriguing and captivating sequence,” said Chimbarami.

He came up with this movie in May 2015.

He says he is overwhelmed by the response he has been getting from people from across the country.

“The feedback I have been getting has been so encouraging. I am learning a lot of new things and I hope to be a more professional filmmaker with time,” he said.
