Barbara Vhengedza From My Heart
Dear Tete
I am a woman who was married at a very tender age because my parents gave their consent. The things that I went through were very difficult and hard to believe.Even as I look back I wonder how it is that I even survived. I now have my children with my one husband who has very strong religious beliefs that are now affecting my children. My 15-year-old daughter is now under serious threat of being forced into an early marriage and I do not want her to suffer like I did. I cannot leave my marriage but I am thinking of sending my daughter into hiding.

Tete Responds:
You are indeed a real mother who understood the labour pains you endured for your child. You have nurtured your child with a dream for her future and the minute you have seen that dream being threatened, you have awakened. My sister, do what you must to save your precious child. Communication will be the best solution, but you know best how your husband will react because of what he believes in. At the age of 15, your daughter is just, but a baby who is still in need of guidance and protection from an adult. She is not even close or ready for marriage. Find an organisation in your area that deals with child marriage issues and confide in them. You will get the assistance you require,
All the Best
