Mutepfa dismisses WhatsApp texts

REVIVAL Centre World Mission Church founder – Prophet Adventure Mutepfa – has denied ever exchanging WhatsApp text messages with the wife of a congregant who was now using the same to claim adultery damages from the cleric.

Through his lawyer, Mr Edward Mvere of Mvere, Chikamhi, Mareanadzo Legal Practitioners, Prophet Mutepfa complained that The Manica Post was reporting the case unfairly and thereby casting his character in bad light.

“We are instructed that in your Manica Post issue of the 7-13th April 2017 in your Weekender you published certain WhatsApp messages purportedly revealing conversation which insinuate that our client was having an adulterous affair with one Fortunate Ndlovu.

“In the Weekender issue our client’s photo was clear but Fortunate Ndlovu’s photo was blurred, as if you wanted to protect her identity whilst revealing that of our client, at his expense.

“You then proceeded to extensively cover Fortunate Ndlovu’s version of events and that of her lawyers, without clarifying our client’s position with him or his legal practitioners.

“Our client denies ever sending the WhatsApp messages which you published in your issue without verification with our client or his legal practitioners.

“We are of the view that your actions exceeded the boundaries of fair comment and were meant to depict our client as a promiscuous and unfaithful husband.”

Prophet Mutepfa has since said the adultery claims were mere fabrications and an act of blackmail.
