YOUNG tennis players from Mutare continue dominating in different tournaments being played around the country with the latest bunch being primary school players who took part in the Ambassadors and the Harare Junior Open tournaments. The Harare Junior Open Tournament was held on April 21 to 24 and players representing Manicaland scoped two gold medals and a shield.

Chirowakamwa pupil’s Gargan Chindudzi, Liberty Katsande and Joel Badza were outstanding in that competition with Chindudzi snatching both gold medals while Katsande settled for bronze. Chindudzi went on to partner Badza in the doubles match and scoped gold and a Shield.

In the highly competitive Ambassadors tournament Beloveth Takabika from Mutate Junior School snatch a bronze medal.

The prestigious annual competition, which is organised by Ambassador from different countries, was held on last Friday to Saturday. Sweet Beez Tennis Club coach Sweeten Murawu, who travelled with the youngsters, praised them for a job well done. “I am happy with the performance of my youngsters. They are showing that Mutare has got talent. As usual Mutare keeps dominating in the game of tennis and I am not surprised at all given that I have seen talented youngsters in the game of tennis here in Mutare. I train youngsters at Dangamvura Beit Hall courts. “I am the only coach coaching at the community Hall and I am coaching two schools Chirovakamwe and Sheni Primary. I have seen that we have the talent and what probably lack are the resources. However, in Dangamvura, my club is open for anyone who feels he wants to learn the game of tennis,” he said.
