MUTARE Polytechnic principal, Ms Poniso Watema, was named the Outstanding Public Service Leader of the Year 2017 at the Megafest Women’s awards held in Harare recently.

Ms Watema was recognised for championing and promoting corporate governance. After receiving her award, Ms Watema, said she was both proud and humbled by the recognition.

“As a college, we consistently strive to deliver outstanding training to individuals and employees across Zimbabwe. I personally never tire in promoting and championing good corporate governance in the areas that I lead,” she said.

The chairman and founder of the Megafets Awards, Mr Tafadzwa Matsika, said Ms Watema was a visionary leader.  “She is a truly inspirational figure who will only accept the best. She has demonstrated this in her work with students, employees and the community in which she works,” Mr Matsika said.

Ms Watema has won several awards in recognition of her work and is one of the best known and highly-respected figures in the technical and vocational education sector in Zimbabwe.

Mega Fest Holdings, a Consulting and Conferencing Company, also honoured several other women who have made significant achievements in their particular fields of profession.
